IMPRESSIONS FROM MARCH & APRIL 2021 : A PERSONAL PROJECT | ANCHORAGE FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER

2021 is just flying by! We enjoyed an amazing ski and snowboarding season and just as spring was starting to emerge we went on a few hiking adventures! In March I had a session at the Matanuska Glacier and it was AMAZING! I had so much fun photographing a family exploring the colors and features! It is definitely on my must do for next winter again! Snow was stubborn and persistent so we went to the Nature Center and saw the swans had migrated in! Such a spectacular sight amongst all the snow! We also went to one of our favorite waterfalls and it was still frozen but some water was starting to open up. The girls absolutely loved being close to the waterfall. Since the water was still super clear I was able to practice my underwater shots! We kicked off April with our first camping trip and though things were still pretty dead they were beautiful <3 We are jumping right into camping season and I look forward to a summer full of adventures!

Impressions’ is a creative project by an eclectic group of female photographers from around the globe. Every other month, we share a selection of images that tell the story of what inspired us in the previous weeks. We are free to explore the meaning of β€˜impressions’, and it is likely to change month to month.

Head on over to see what adventures Natalie has been on!

Wall Displays, ooh la la!

In December I purchased a pretty awesome app for my ipad that does wall display layouts. I haven’t had a chance to play around with it until recently. It is pretty addicting! I just used the most recent images from my girls studio session as an example. It comes with stock room images however I can also take images from the rooms in my home or rooms in your home to get a good idea of how they will look and what sizes would work best. There is a framed option for standard framing as well as unframed which would be similar to canvas displays. I am researching similar options for the Organic Bloom frames.
Here are the samples I had fun playing with and I will also show sizes as reference. I will definitely be doing this frequently as samples and as part of the In Person Ordering Appointment. I am more than happy to help you choose creative and unique displays when your order your wall displays through LMP. I have spent a few months researching new products and vendors to offer and I am sooooo excited for all new studio fabulousness LMP has for 2015!

So hard to choose my favorite of these!

Image one is: 30×20 with three 10X8’s
Image two is: 17×11 and two 12×8’s
Image three is: 30X20, 16×24, and 12×24
Image four is: two 16×20’s, 32×20, three 10×10’s

Princess and her throne

As fulfilling as my photography journey has been on a personal level, I have also had the opportunity to “meet” some truly remarkable people both in person and online that have made my heart swell. Β This fall I had the pleasure and honor of meeting Barb Uil of Jinky Art which was an absolute dream come true. She changed my life and my business! She has also created a community of photographers that is simply amazing. Feel free to browse the links below!

Of course every post needs an image πŸ˜‰ It has been a very strange winter here. Unseasonable warm then cold with little snow and lots of ice. Luckily the sun has finally returned to us! We have enjoyed playing in the studio and here is my little princess on her throne <3

Leaping towards Spring

I am sure I am not alone, but cabin fever is certainly setting in! The days are getting longer and warmer however we know there are still a few months left in winter. The best way to beat those dreary weather blues, bring a little touch of spring into the studio. Of course with gorgeous outfits and lots of smiles it was the perfect mix <3

Get those files printed!

You have finally sat down with all your digital images and you are ready to get them printed! Woo hoo! You have painstakingly made your lists for printing and who you are gifting the prints to as well asΒ where each image is going to be proudly displayed. Β Then something strange happens. They don’t print the same and some images are cropped in a strange way. Β What the heck???? Don’t worry, this is due to aspect ratio. Each camera photographs an image with a specific aspect ratio, which is the ratio of width to height.Β  Most digital camera’s photograph with an aspect ratio of 3:2 and this ratio create’s 4×6’s, 8×12’s etc. So any print outside that side is going to experience some cropping. It is inevitable. The lab I recommend allow’s you to choose how you want your image cropped so you can minimize the cropping of the good stuff. Of course, when we do your ordering session we will go over cropping and I can show you how cropping will affect your image based on the sizes you choose for printing. Here is a handy visual guide to help! The shaded area is where the image will be cropped when printing at that size πŸ˜€

I love fun and funky designs and I LOVE color. So when I saw these frames I knew I not only needed them for myself, but I wanted to offer them to my clients too! They come in a wide range of sizes, styles and colors. Β You can also get them double stacked. Β There are so many options to choose from! Β I use mine in the kitchen on an easel when I’m cooking or listening to music, it also has a great slideshow for photo’s. Β I am only offering them to my clients currently. Β So anyone that books in May or June I will have the opportunity to purchase the ipad frame at a special limited price πŸ™‚
