“Impressions from May & June : a personal project”

‘Impressions‘ is a creative project by an eclectic group of female photographers from around the globe. We aim to share the inspiration behind what we do through our monthly posts.

On the 8th of each month, we will be sharing 8 images that tell the story of what inspired us in the previous weeks: our families, nature, weather, or maybe even work itself! We are free to explore the meaning of ‘impressions’, and it is likely to change month to month.

I’m going rogue on this one 😉 I am over sharing from one session. This summer I made a bucket list of adventures for the girls and I. We have been enjoying every minute of exploring Alaska and its beauty. I can’t wait to share all those images soon! This session was very special. I LOVE working with my vendors. I have such a wonderful relationship with them that I cherish. These gorgeous dresses were designed by Corinna Couture, the stunning headbands from Chickapee creations, and the whimsical teepee and teepee topper from Sugar Shack Teepee’s. The teapot was a vintage find from an antique store and was part of a $30 prop challenge. The goal was to find a prop under $30 at an antique store and center a shoot around that prop. I couldn’t help but combine them all! These sessions are so special because my daughters LOVE participating. They have such a blast daydreaming and playing make believe in these whimsical sets. I LOVE watching their connection and I am so blessed to watch them blossom <3

Tripping Tuesday: Byron Glacier Anchorage Photographer

If there is one thing my girls and I love its a good adventure! We plan on maximizing our summer with a day trip bucket list. We have a list of places that we hope to explore before the end of summer 😀 This week we explored Byron Glacier. It has been on my must visit list for awhile now. Byron Glacier is 55 miles south of Anchorage in the stunning Portage Valley. I hope my girls don’t take for granted how beautiful Alaska is <3 This is the perfect trip for packing a picnic on a road trip or the perfect spot to stretch your legs and get the restless kiddo’s out if you are headed further south to Seward or Homer. The trail is 1.4 miles long and is fairly flat.  Warning: If your kiddo’s love rocks as much as mine do be prepared 😉 We didn’t explore any of the ice caves but this was definitely a fun adventure! There is no shortage of stunning mountain valley views and my girls were so excited to touch a glacier 😀

Spring Contest! Anchorage Child and Family Photographer

It is time for a little contest! I LOVE spring! I love watching the blooms erupt and the leaves unfurl. I love the smell of spring (I also love the smell of fall but please don’t judge me).  I am not a fan of allergies though and I know you spring allergy sufferers feel my pain! So to make spring that much shinier and a little more enjoyable I am giving away a $20 Kaladi Brother’s gift card. To win you must guess the exact Day of Green. The day that Anchorage has suddenly exploded into full bloom and everything is green. We call it the Day of Green and I have also heard it called Green Up Day 😀 Must enter by Monday at Midnight 😀

Rules:

Winner must post on my blog the date that you think will be the Day of Green or Green Up Day and what you like to call it 😀

If there are multiple entries for the same day the winner will be chosen from those entries by random drawing.

Winner should, but not required, be a fan of LMP.

LMP determines the actual day of green.

Winner must claim prize within 3o days.

Spring Break!

This has been such a strange winter weather wise! Mild temperatures with intermitent bone chilling weeks and a lack of snow. It has been tricky keeping the girls entertained outside. We had the chance to go to Homer for my husbands work for a quick overnight trip. Homer is a looooooong ways away but it is sooooo pretty and it was spring break so why not! The girls call Homer the beach and where we usually stay the beach house. The beach house is seasonal so I told them we would be staying somewhere new but we would still have plenty of fun adventures. They packed soccer balls, beach toys, sunglasses, Zoie wanted to buy new flip flops before I realized, OH they think it is summer at the beach. “Umm, sadly it is still winter but we are going to make the best of it!” Famous last mom words.

Homer is beautiful. I love everything about it. Finley’s wasn’t feeling well so she loved cuddling in the hotel room with dad watching cable tv (which is a novelty when you don’t have it lol). Zoie stayed with them while my mom and I drove to the spit and watched the surfer. Another reason why I love Alaska. I LOVE Alaskan’s. It was in barely into the double digits, 12 degree’s F, and this guy is out there surfing. It was so fun to watch with the snow capped mountains as a backdrop.

We grabbed Z and headed to dinner at Two Sisters, yummmmmy yummmmy food. Plus, paper on the table so she drew a fox eating blueberries and wrote a little story about him <3 Then we caught a freezing but lovely sunset. I just loved how much the waved sparkled!

The next morning we headed to the beach and it was windy and freezing.  Z loves beach combing and found a lone seashell which quickly became her prized possession. Beach combing is strange, on a frozen beach! The girls were troopers until Z got splashed with a wave and then the fun was over. F had no interest in the water or the waves. Too cold and I agree!

Homer is such a beautiful place even when it is freezing. I can not wait to go back this summer <3
