I know summer is fully under way but this was one of my favorite sessions this winter! We had very few snowy days and we had to take advantage of this winter wonderland before this gorgeous family moved out of state. It couldn’t have been more perfect!
Impressions from March & April : a personal project {Anchorage photographer}
‘Impressions‘ is a creative project by an eclectic group of female photographers from around the globe. We aim to share the inspiration behind what we do through our bi-monthly posts.
Every other month, we will be sharing 8 images that tell the story of what inspired us in the previous weeks: our families, nature, weather, or maybe even work itself! We are free to explore the meaning of ‘impressions’, and it is likely to change month to month.
Man! These past few winters have been rough with the lack of snow. I admit to feeling bitter about it lol! The break to the beach in San Diego was nice and so I was ready for more sun which we got very quickly! Our gorgeous early warm and sunny spring was perfect. As much as I love the beach there is something pretty spectacular about our mountains. Even quick snapshots during our day and weekend trips are pretty breathtaking. I love that no matter where we are we always have a scenic view and I certainly hope that my kiddo’s grow up knowing what a truly spectacular place they have for a backyard! We took a weekend trip to the quaint town of Valdez and the waterfall’s and stunning mountain views did not disappoint. Spotting a mama bear and her cubs along the way was definitely a highlight! Although, I do look forward to going back not during a shoulder season. I am sure summer, fall, and winter are stunning. Continually surrounded by wildlife, mountain passes, and epic beauty I love that I get to call Alaska home <3

I have really been slack about personal photo’s this year so this month I am documenting a few images from our recent trip to San Diego. San Diego was a favorite of mine growing up and also as an adult. I spent some time at UCSD for a summer studying Marine Biology. It was a special experience to be able to share a place I love so much with my little ones. It was really hard to narrow down to 8 images! The seals were a definite favorite and we able to view them right from our hotel. It was fun to see the seal pups and watch them nursing. Of course my own girls on the beach were my favorite <3 We had always called Homer the beach and beaches in Alaska are nothing like the sunny warm beaches of southern California 😉 We all are looking forward to our next beach getaway. There is something magical about the sound of the waves and warm sand on your toes <3
Next go see the incredibly talented Susanne Ashby and follow along our circle!
Top of 15 Images of 2015 Anchorage Family Photographer
Wow 2015 went fast! It absolutely flew right by! I thought it would be fun to put together a top 15 of 2015 of my personal photo’s from the year. It started off proving difficult to find 15 then, well, the pendulum swung in the other direction and I am incredibly grateful for such a wonderful year. It was a year that honestly didn’t seem very remarkable until I slowed down and reflected back. It was a huge year of growth for my business and I want to say THANK YOU to all of my clients who have given me the honor of allowing me to document your lives and be a storyteller for your precious moments this year. I am grateful and truly honored <3 I have a post coming for my favorite client images from 2015 as well 😀
Putting this together allowed me to reflect on my year with my family and what an adventurous year we had filled with new experiences, lots of love, laughter with friends, and of course travel! There were tears and laughter going through this years images as I could tangibly see how much the girls have grown. This is exactly why I am a photographer to document these in between moments as life is flying by. They are able remember things more and more so as we look through photographs they are remembering our experiences as a family as well as their own adventures. The first few years are what I call the “mommy years”. They are my memories and as we look through pictures I can laugh and tell them stories about themselves as babies. Now as they are getting older they have their own stories so we are transitioning out of those mommy years and I am honored to share these wonderful memories with my little people and proud to be a part of their story <3 So enjoy my top…not 15…of 2015 😀 I am looking forward to an amazing 2016 with you all!
