Impressions from July & August : a personal project
‘Impressions‘ is a creative project by an eclectic group of female photographers from around the globe. We aim to share the inspiration behind what we do through our bi-monthly posts.
Every other month, we will be sharing 8 images that tell the story of what inspired us in the previous weeks: our families, nature, weather, or maybe even work itself! We are free to explore the meaning of ‘impressions’, and it is likely to change month to month.
Homer is a gorgeous little coastal town in Anchorage that boasts a population of 5,003 and is a tourist haven in the summer. It is by far one of my favorite places in Alaska. The views, the food, the vibe, it is simply breathtakingly amazing. To kick off the end of summer and my birthday we spent a long weekend in a beach bungalow, you guessed it, on the beach. We heard sea gulls, waves crashing, and eagles were perched right off the lawn! We spent the days; beach combing, looking for sea stars and sea shells, and walking the quaint boardwalk shopping. I fell in love with the peonies sold on the boardwalk. They are my absolute favorite flower and Diamond Ridge Peonies had such a cute display! Evenings were spent by the bonfire roasting marshmallows and sitting in the hot tub with spectacular ocean and mountain views. It was a sad sad day for us all to leave but we did see the ever elusive Beluga Whales in the inlet headed into Anchorage. It was a first for me to see sooooo many up so close. The girls of course were thrilled. It was a fabulous farewell to a gorgeous summer as we get ready for, hopefully, a perfectly snowy winter <3

May and June were a blur of amazing chaos. The school year ended which kicked off an epically gorgeous Alaskan summer. Our days have been filled with the midnight sun and endless adventures. However, in June I headed to Banff in Alberta Canada for a jaw dropping and awe inspiring week of photography. I was surrounded by the breathtakingly stunning Canadian Rockies and my mountain loving heart was definitely full. But the people. Oh the people. Paul Zizka, Dave Brosha, Wayne Simpson have created a photography workshop experience and community that is unrivaled. The energy was contagious and the inspiration endless. We worked with incredible models and everyone was feeding off of each others creative vibes. No opportunity was left unexplored. I think I slept 5 hours over three days and I loved every single minute of it. I have already booked spot for next year 😉 This was an experience that changed me, changed my thought process, and filled my soul <3 I explored new techniques, worked completely outside of my comfort zone, and I became a part of an photography community that I truly have no words for <3 I had to narrow down to find a few of my favorite images for this post but it was incredibly difficult to narrow down so enjoy a brief glimpse!

Oh how I adore this family! Their maternity sessions was one of my absolute favorites despite us trying to beat the rain. Those rich fall colors, swooooon! When they came in for the newborn session he was seriously one the cutest little guys EVER! I just saw them again for his 6 month sitting up session and he is just getting cuter by the day
Anchorage Maternity Session
Oh my this is one stunning expectant momma! I love shooting outdoors in Alaska’s stunning landscapes, however there is something dreamy about studio sessions as well. I have several dresses available for maternity sessions and this is my newest one. It is quickly becoming on of my favorites <3 So versatile and the lace is gorgeous. It is from my girl Valerie at Sew Trendy.
If you are wanting to book your own maternity session I recommend booking early to ensure I can get you in during the optimal time for maternity sessions which is typically around 28-34 weeks. Contact me at [email protected] to discuss your maternity session!
