Newborn Photography Anchorage | The Newborn Session Experience

Welcoming a new baby into the world is one of life’s most beautiful (and sleep-deprived) adventures—and capturing those fleeting, tiny details is what I love most about newborn photography.

If you’re curious about what a newborn session with Leslie Meadow Photography looks like, let me walk you through the experience. Spoiler alert: it’s relaxed, heartfelt, and tailored to your growing family.

A Cozy, Calm Studio Experience

All newborn sessions take place in my warm and welcoming studio in Anchorage, designed to feel calm, cozy, and baby-friendly. You don’t need to bring a thing (except the baby, of course!)—I’ve got you covered with a full collection of wraps, hats, headbands, baskets, blankets, and props. Soft textures, timeless colors, and beautiful light come together to create dreamy, artful portraits.

My goal is to make this experience as stress-free as possible. You just show up, relax, and I’ll gently guide you through it all.

Family First

We begin each session with family photos while everyone is fresh and cuddly. I always start with the full family together, then move into combinations:
• Mom + baby (+ siblings if you’d like)
• Partner + baby (+ siblings)
• Siblings together

These moments are full of connection and tenderness—the big-sibling kisses, the proud parent gazes, the quiet joy of holding your little one close. They’re the heart of the session.

Then, We Focus on Baby

Once we’ve captured the family moments, we move on to solo newborn portraits. These are the dreamy, sleepy, curled-up poses that everyone loves. I take my time, working gently and patiently to ensure your baby is comfortable and safe throughout. We’ll photograph your baby wrapped, unwrapped, in props, and posed naturally to show off all that sweet squishiness.

Tiny fingers. Wrinkly toes. Button noses. Fuzzy shoulders. These small details change so fast—my job is to freeze them in time for you.

Print your images | Alaska Newborn Photographer

You may be asking yourself what to do with your images now that you have had a session and have all these gorgeous digital files. If you don’t know what to do with them, then this post is perfect to give you a little boost to look at your walls creatively!

The first thing my clients think of is to print the images and create wall art (after grandparents’ gifts, of course)! This can be intimidating and feel permanent, but trust me, it’s not. I just so happen to NOT be talented in the hanging of wall art, which is why I don’t offer in-home installations. Even when I measure and use a level, it is just so slightlyyyyyy off. It’s not you, it’s me. With that being said, I do appreciate a good wall gallery template! I love inspiration that gets my ideas going and gives me a chance to find creative ways to hang my images, as well as incorporate other art into my family gallery wall.

My Favorite Things Kayla Jane Designs Anchorage Family Photographer

HELLO and welcome back to 2017’s 12 gifts of Christmas or what I like to call My FAVORITE things! Every year I feature my favorite local businesses and they generously donate their favorite items to share with you! I love our community here and small business is such an integral part of Anchorage and Alaska’s charm! Prepare for several days of fun as I introduce you to several of my favorite unique and fun local businesses!

Today is a feature is from the fabulous Kayla Jane Designs (@kaylajanedesignsak)! Her unique combinations of gorgeous plants with vintage finds are so incredibly fun! Her passion shines through her work and her enthusiasm is contagious! I love watching to see what she is creating next and I recently scored my very own creation for the studio 😀 She has generously donated a darling mini cactus succulent in a gorgeous tea cup set! Soooo cute!

During the summer and winter months she can be found a variety of markets including this weekend at the Three Ladies Open House. She will also be at the Bridal Fair coming up in a few months. On Facebook she is @kaylajanedesignsak as well as IG. Website coming soon!

My Favorite Things 2016 Bella Boutique Anchorage Photographer

HELLO and welcome back one of the final days of the give away featuring local businesses and artists!  I hope you have enjoyed everything so far! My Favorite Things 2016 Pink Raven Studio Anchorage Family Photographer

HELLO and welcome back to 2016’s My Favorite Things! THANK YOU  to all of those playing along! Also, THANK YOU to all the incredible local businesses that have gifted this year and in the past. This is such a fun tradition!  I am so excited to feature so many amazing local artists and I hope you have found some new gifts and new businesses to follow!

I am super excited to feature the amazing Marianne, the artist at Pink Raven Studio! Her gorgeous studio is in the same building as me and it is such a lovely space! I first fell in love with her last year and imagine my surprise when she moved into the same building! I was so excited! THEN I flipped open a Country Home magazine and recognized one of her paintings on the wall of the home they were featuring! I love all her vibrant work! Fiona in Goggles is one of my favorites as well as the Pink Raven, of course. Her work is so vibrant, colorful, and full of life. Her original works are available for purchase as well as prints, journals, coffee mugs, gift tags, and many other unique gifts! Ok I also LOVE the live the life of your wildest dreams coffee mug. When you get a chance you should swing by her studio and say hi. Her works are also available on Etsy and you can contact her through her Facebook or via her website. She also hosts first Fridays and has several other artists works available in her studio.
